FACTORY DRAGON

Due to selective breeding, Dragons have begun to exhibit rather distinctive colorations. These “designer” Dragons display brilliant hues of yellow, pastel oranges, violets, and reds. The most popular morphs thus far include the “Sand Fire” Dragons, which exhibits a bright red-orange color with black stripes. Also very popular is the “Citrus” morph, a brilliant yellow. A more unusual sub-breed is the leatherback, and another of that is the silk-back. These Dragons have reduced scales, creating a smoother appearance. Much like designer dogs, the price tags of these customized pets are many times the price of Dragons without a specific morph.

NEW LENS BABY!!!

Oh, so I'm so über excited about my new lens. It's a Nikon Nikkor AF-S Zoom 24-120mm ƒ/3.5-5.6G IF ED VRII. It's a perfect blend of wide angle (acts like a 36mm at the widest which is wonderful for portraits and 180mm at max range which is not too close, but close enough). I'm so happy with this lens and my favourite feature has to be the M/A mode. I can easily allow the camera to quickly autofocus on my selected focus point, and without switching to manual mode, I can grab the focus ring and adjust my focus if required. PERFECT!!!

MERRY TYPOGRAPHY TREE

SCHABLONEHAUS

This is a unicase typeface design using the base typeface of Myriad Pro and is designed to look as though it would appear in the Bauhaus era. It is named Schablonehaus, meaning “stencil house” in german, because the Bauhaus era was well known for their bold, black sans serif letters with extreme rounds and a geometric base.

BUBBLES GALORE EXPLAINED

So, many people have asked me about this “bubble” photography that I posted not too long ago. Here's the link so you know what I'm talking about if you haven't seen it already... BUBBLES. So that everybody gets an idea of what was done here, I'll simply list the items used, then explain it.

Items required

1. Bubble blowing solution
2. Tray of some sort (10" x 10" minimum)
3. Wire/metal coat hanger
4. Large sheet of black paper (bristol board size is good)
5. Adjustable table lamp with a high watt bulb (250W+)
6. Your every trusty camera

Setup

Start by placing black paper in a curved manor, as if it were a mini backdrop to your photoshoot, up against a wall. You may want to tape it in place to ensure it stays. Follow by pouring in your bubble solution into your tray/pan until the bottom is completely covered. You'll now take your hanger and bend it out of shape, and into a large square or circle (I find a circle works best) keeping the hook intact as this will be your handle. You'll then ensure your light is shinning brightly onto your black background. Now, place your hanger in the mixture similar to that as if you were about to blow a big bubble.

With the bubble solution trapped inside your hanger, place the hanger under the light and observe as the oily mixture of bubble solution oxidizes the metal from the hanger and starts to create a rainbow effect throughout. While carefully holding the hanger at an angle in which you can see the rainbow mixture, SNAP A PICTURE ALREADY!

Et voila!

NIKON D3X MASTER-CRAP-IECE

Folks, welcome to the failure launch of the newest and the
“not” best digital SLR in the world... The Nikon D3X.

Asides from the fact that this camera boast a 24.4 MP CMOS FX-Format (full frame) sensor equaling an image of 6,048 x 4,032 pixels, an ISO equivalent range of a mere 100 - 1,600, 5 fps (7 fps in DX crop mode), and a whopping price tag of $9,449.95 CDN. The two stats that are quite impressive don't even affect your image quality... being a start-up time of 0.12 seconds and a shutter release time lag of 0.04 seconds. WOW.

I mean honestly, even more underwhelming is that there is no significant pixel-per-second improvement over the old D3 either.
Has anybody caught on to the fact that the $5,349.95 CDN Nikon D3 shoots at 9 fps in FX format and 11 fps in DX format along with an exciting ISO equivalent range of 100 - 25,600?

I don't know about you, but I think the D3X is simply a D3 with a big white “X” painted on. The only reason someone would honestly buy this over the D3 is either because they have money to blow or they are semi-serious landscape artists... Serious landscape artist will continue to shoot with their beautifully engineered medium format
4" x 5" film.

TAKE ME TO THE MOON

Finally got my Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm ƒ/4.5-5.6G IF ED VRII lens and I couldn't wait for the day to take some pictures, so I ventured out at night and decided to snap away at the light.

WONDERS OF OXIDATION

Ok, so my friend John was on flickr and found this absolutely wonderful group called “Wonders of Oxidation” and of course, it contains some of the greatest rust/oxidation pictures I've ever seen. From shower heads and tractors to finials, barbed wire and trains. So please, follow the link, go on in, join the group and enjoy the pictures as much as I have. You may even be inspired enough to post some of your own pictures to the group pool. Happy snapping!
